Hand-Quilted in Little Pigeon Creek, Indiana
Rosalie "Rosie" Aldridge, 72. She learned to quilt at her grandmother's treadle machine at eight years old. For 44 years she has made hand-quilted table runners, one at a time. These designs are part of her final collection.
"My grandmother used to say a bare table is just furniture. You dress it, and it becomes the place the family comes home to. I've been living by that ever since — one runner at a time."
— Rosalie "Rosie" Aldridge, Little Pigeon Creek, Indiana

Why This Runner
Six Things You Won't Find on a Printed Runner
Every detail below is the result of 44 years of making the same thing well, and refusing to cut corners on any of it.
Real 3-Layer Quilted Build
A cotton-blend top, a full batting interior, and a dense stipple-quilt pattern that locks all three layers together and keeps the runner lying flat. Run your hand across it. You can feel every stitch. That is not a print. That is real quilting.
Appliquéd, Not Printed
The design on the front — dogs, flowers, or patriotic motifs — is individually cut, layered, and stitched onto the panel by hand. It will not crack, peel, or wash off. A printed graphic is a picture of a design. An appliqué becomes part of the runner.
Bound & Patchwork-Pieced
The border is pieced from patchwork squares, and every edge is double-bound by hand. It won't fray or unravel at the corners, wash after wash. Rosie has been binding edges this way for 44 years.
Three Sizes, One Perfect Fit
Available in 14"×48", 14"×72", and 14"×108" (36×122cm / 36×183cm / 36×275cm) — so you can dress anything from a breakfast nook to the full family table. Most customers say it becomes the runner they leave out year-round.
Machine Washable
Gentle cold, lay flat to dry. The stitching holds because it is sewn through three layers, not glued, not printed, not heat-pressed. Rosie has customers who have washed the same runner dozens of times. It comes back the same.
Built to Last for Years
Under her worktable, Rosie keeps a dented cookie tin full of thank-you notes from customers — some who've had the same runner on their table for twenty years. This one is made the same way.
Miraclable Note
"The difference between a genuinely quilted piece and a printed one is obvious the moment you touch both. A true quilted piece has loft — you can feel the batting beneath the surface, and the stitching creates a raised pattern that gives the fabric real body and weight. A piece built this way, with a proper quilt sandwich and hand-placed appliqué, is made the same way quilters have used for generations, and it will outlast most printed home textiles on the market."

A Note From Little Pigeon Creek
Rosie hand-finishes every runner and signs off on each one before it ships. Slight variations in the quilting pattern and motif placement are a natural part of handmade construction. No two runners are exactly alike, and that is by design. The appliqué is hand-placed. The stipple-quilting is hand-guided. The binding is stitched one edge at a time. These are not flaws. They are the maker's hand at work. Forty-four years of it.
